5. ON VEHICLE REPAIRS A. STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL 1. Park the car with front wheel in straight ahead position. Apply parking brake and place wheel chokes at rear wheels. 2. Disconnect battery terminal. 3. Pull out the DAB assembly carefully. 4. Remove the steering wheel nut. 5. Remove steering wheel using steering wheel puller. (Part No. 287158904602) Image for Illustration purpose only INSPECTION Check for any damage to self-cancellation lugs, if found, replace complete steering wheel. INSTALLATION 1. Align the marks made on the steering wheel and the shaft. Install steering wheel on steering shaft 2. Tighten the steering wheel nut to the specified torque. Tightening torque (Steering wheel nut) = 4Kg-m 3. Fit horn pad (Press fit type). 4. Connect battery. WARNING Before removing steering wheel make alignment marks on the steering wheel and the shaft for guiding during reinstallation. CAUTION Don’t excessive force or hammering on steering wheel for fitment; Care should be taken such that self-cancellation lugs do not get damaged (self-cancellation lugs are shown in below figure with arrows). NOTE Wheel alignment is necessary after installation (Refer wheel alignment procedure). STEERING 12
