F. SWITCH OIL PRESSURE SWITCH I. COMPONENT DETAILS Oil Pressure switch is installed on the engine cylinder head to check pressure in oil gallery. If the oil pressure is detected as low, it Switch On the “Low Oil pressure” tell-tale in the Instrument Cluster. This information is very useful for the customer so as to alert him to check the engine oil level in the dip stick and top up the oil to bring it closer to max mark level. This switch is Normally Closed contact type and opens only when oil pressure is above the range of 0.6 to 0.9 Kg/Sq.cm. It has a spring loaded diaphragm which opens up to generate OK signal. Otherwise if pressure is below the designated range, the tell-tale on Cluster gets ON. COMPONENT LOCATION DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING If the tell-tale is ON in the Instrument Cluster, please check the following things: - 1. Please check that oil level in dip stick should be above minimum mark. If yes, got to step 2 or else top-up the engine oil and recheck the telltale status after engine restart. 2. Please check if there is any leakage of oil from oil pressure sensor. If yes, please tighten the oil pressure switch mounting bolt with 4 Kgfm. 3. Please check whether the oil pressure switch connector is not loose. 4. Electrical diagnosis - to be supported from AED team. 5. If still solved then please replace with new switch.
