SENSOR STANDALONE DIAGNOSIS Use multi-meter to check for signal voltage at pin1 and pin3. Supply Voltage: - 5V DC. Signal Voltage: 0.4 V at 10 kpa (absolute) 4.65 V at 115 kpa (absolute) Use TATA diagnostic tool to check for ‘Intake manifold pressure and Air temperature’ values. 1. Give 5V Power Supply to the Sensor Supply pin and Ground to the Sensor Ground Pin 2. Keep the sensor in a pressurized environment of 50 bar. 3. Measure the Voltage between the Sensor pressure Signal Pin and Ground, it should be 2.1 Volts approx. 4. Check the resistance between the Sensor Temperature signal pin and EMS ECU, at Room temperature of 30°C, it should be ~1080 Ohms. LAMBDA SENSOR II. COMPONENT DETAILS The oxygen sensor operates on the principle of galvanic oxygen concentration cell (Nernst cell) with solid electrolyte (Nernst’s principle). The ceramic sensing element is a conductor of oxygen ions from a temperature of 350°C. A heater is integrated on the sensing element. It is placed into the exhaust manifold. The sensing element compares the residual oxygen content in the exhaust gas with the oxygen content in the reference atmosphere (air surrounding the sensing element). This gives an output voltage between 100mV (lean exhaust gas) to 800mV (rich exhaust gas), depending on whether the exhaust gas is lean or rich. COMPONENT LOCATION The lambda sensor is mounted at the input and output of the catcon as upstream and downstream lambda sensor. Petrol Engine Ph-2 (CAFÉ)_DCT 177
