DESCRIPTION Proper maintenance of the air filter is essential for vehicle performance and fuel economy. The air filter element removes foreign material such as dust, dirt, and other material from the intake air, thereby preventing the engine from damage due to contaminated air. Inspect and clean the air filter element at every routine service. Replace the air filter element every 45,000 km. REMOVAL 1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and raise the hood. 2. Gently tap loose any dirt or debris from the filter. Clean the housing and air ducts as well.
