The EGR System consists of the following components 1. ECU 2. EGR Cooler 3. EVRV Components 1. Electronic Control Unit The EGR system of the vehicle is controlled by the Engine EMS ECU. Block Diagram The EMS ECU controls the EVRV which in turns controls the EGR by applying vacuum or releasing it as per the signal from the EMS ECU. 2. EGR Cooler Assembly EGR cooler module consists of the EGR cooler • EGR valve • The EGR cooler assembly is provided with inbuilt electronic EGR valve. The EGR Cooler is a heat exchanger that is used to cool the exhaust gases before they are recirculated to the intake manifold. The hot exhaust gases are routed into the EGR cooler from the exhaust pipes through the EGR valve. In the EGR cooler, the exhaust gases are made to pass through metal tubes that are surrounded by engine coolant. The cooled exhaust gas is more effective to help to reduce the pollutants. The EGR valve is electrically operated by the EMS. 3. VSV (Vacuum Solenoid Valve) Diesel Engine Ph-2 (CAFÉ) 92
