ALTROZ iCNG SERVICE MANUAL

GENERAL INSTRUCTION / PRECAUTIONS WHILE WORKING ON CNG VEHICLE In Workshop Provide safe, well ventilated locations for parking and working e.g. away from openings in the ground like drains and pits, and sources of ignition; Clearly identify each CNG vehicle, e.g. with suitably positioned signs, as a reminder to people working on the vehicle, and anyone in the vicinity, especially those who may be carrying out ‘hot work’ (welding, burning, infrared heating etc.) Do not take vehicles with leaking CNG systems inside a workshop or other building, as dangerous concentrations of vapours could accumulate. Train staff on what to do in an emergency. Wear suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent cold burns, injury and discharge of static electricity. Empty CNG fuel lines from the tank to the engine by isolating the fuel tank by closing the manual valve on the cylinder valve and running the engine until it stops. Carry out work which involves removing components from the CNG system in a sufficiently ventilated open space. Disconnect the vehicle battery, and display warning signs, e.g. ‘No smoking’ around the area before starting the work. Do not carry out any work which involving CNG system over or close to a vehicle inspection pit or drain without proper ventilation where dangerous concentrations of vapour could accumulate. Existing fixed lighting of the type which is recessed into the pit wall, usually fitted at least 1 m from the pit floor, can continue to be used provided it is sealed behind toughened plastic or glass and protected against physical damage and if the risk assessment shows it is safe to do so. Portable tools, including hand lamps, used in • pits should be either air-powered or explosion protected and can continue to be used provided the risk assessment shows it is safe to do so. In case heating is required, maintain a minimum • clearance of 1 m between the area to be heated and the CNG fuel tank or fuel lines. Provide a heat resistant shield or empty gas in the affected zone of the CNG system where this clearance cannot be achieved. Hazard Identification Human health hazards: Exposure to high CNG • vapour concentrations can lead to nausea, headache, dizziness, and in extreme cases, loss of consciousness and death in oxygen deficient environments. Prolonged exposure to vapour may affect the central nervous system. Contact with liquid CNG can cause cold burns. Safety hazards: Extremely flammable liquefied • gas readily explodes in the presence of source of ignition or flame impingement on containers. The vapour is heavier than air, spreads along the ground and distant ignition is possible. First Aid Measures Symptoms and effects: Liquid may cause skin and eye burns. Prolonged exposure to vapour concentrations above the recommended occupational exposure standard may cause headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, confusion, blurred vision, asphyxiation, cardiac irregularities, unconsciousness and even death. Protection of first aiders: Take appropriate steps to avoid fire, explosion and inhalation hazards. First Aid - Inhalation: Shift the affected person to an area where he/she can breathe fresh air. Keep the person warm and allow the person to rest. OBTAIN MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. First Aid - Skin: Drench affected parts with water to normalize temperature. Remove contaminated clothing, rings, watches, etc., if possible, but do not attempt to do so if they are adhering to the skin. Do not attempt to reheat the affected parts rapidly – reheat slowly. Cover with a sterile dressing. Do not apply ointments or powders. Note that contaminated clothing may be a fire hazard. Contaminated clothing should be soaked with water before being removed. It must be laundered before reuse. OBTAIN MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. First Aid - Eye: DO NOT DELAY. Flush eye with copious quantities of water to normalize temperature. Cover eye with a sterile dressing. OBTAIN MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. First Aid - Ingestion: In the unlikely event of ingestion, obtain medical attention immediately. 1.2L REVOTRON CNG PHASE-2 ENGINE 96
