1.5L REVOTORQ ENGINE 186 PINOUT DETAILS Pin No Description 1 Sensor Signal 2 Sensor Return Equipment Required 3 ½ Digital Multi-meter (DMM) Water Bath Heating arrangement for boiling the water Measurement Set-up showing the water level up to which the sensor should be dipped. Test Procedure Use a d 3-½ digit Digital Multi meter (DMM) for measuring the resistance Immerse the sensor in a water bath such that its terminals are facing upwards and outside the water level. Ensure that, around 50% of the hexagonal flange thickness should lie below the water. Boil the water and wait for 10 minutes after boiling temperature of 100 oC is reached. This will ensure that the temperature is stabilized. Measure the resistance value with the DMM at 100 oC resistance of the sensor should be 199.6 +/- 9.3 Ohms. xiii. GLOW PLUG Glow Plug is a pencil-shaped piece of metal with a heating element at the tip, heats due to electrical resistance and begins to emit light in the visible spectrum, hence the term "Glow" plug. The heat generated by the glow plugs is directed into the cylinders and serves to warm the engine block immediately surrounding the cylinders. This aids in reducing the amount of thermal diffusion which will occur when the engine attempts to start. SENSOR LOCATION INSPECTION Check glow plugs for short circuits and or for burning. Replace them if necessary.
