ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT : II. Description : • Replace the engine coolant and flush the cooling system every 60,000 km or 2 years whichever is earlier. Procedure : • 1. Allow the vehicle engine to cool sufficiently before proceeding. 2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable. 3. Remove the coolant reservoir cap. 4. Raise the vehicle off the ground to access the coolant drain petcock on the radiator. Raise the vehicle with a lift hoist. • Park the vehicle on flat, level surface and • engage the parking brake. Place chocks at the rear wheels and raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack. 5. Place a container capable of holding at least eight litres of liquid beneath the drain plug on the radiator. 6. Loosen the drain plug and allow the coolant to drain into the container. 7. Drain the coolant reservoir and rinse out any sediment. COOLANT FILLING (DE-AERATION) PROCEDURE METHOD 1:- Using Radiator Check and Fill System kit. Kit Radiator Check & Fill system (8855 WORK 0087) 1. Take the specified premixed coolant in a clean container preferable having measuring scale, approximately 10% more than the specified coolant capacity of the vehicle (e.g. if the coolant capacity is 6 ltr then take 6.6 ltr). 2. Connect pneumatic line using commercially available suitable QRC. Install the cone adapter from the kit to the vacuum gun and. Put the coolant filler hose into the coolant container; ensure that the filler hose will always be submerged. WARNING Coolant is poisonous to humans and animals. Use care when handling coolant and use proper disposal otherwise death or injury may occur. Never loosen or remove the coolant reservoir cap while the engine cooling system is still hot. Removing the reservoir cap may allow hot coolant or steam to escape, causing severe bums. The electric cooling fan, may start at any time. Disconnect the battery cable to prevent the fan from operating while servicing the cooling system. NOTE Prior to start the process, drain and flush coolant system. 1.2L REVOTRON PHASE-2 ENGINE 46
