1.5L REVOTORQ ENGINE 49 iv. AIR FILTER ELEMENT REPLACEMENT DESCRIPTION Proper maintenance of the air filter is essential for vehicle performance and fuel economy. The air filter element removes foreign material such as dust, dirt, and other material from the intake air, thereby preventing the engine from damage due to contaminated air. Inspect and clean the air filter element at every routine service. Replace the air filter element as per service schedule. REMOVAL 1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and raise the hood. 2. Unscrew the front top three mounting bolts of air filter assembly & three locator at back side. 3. Detach the cover through hinge action, with clamp and throttle intake pipe intact with cover. 4. Remove the air filter element. 5. Gently tap loose any dirt or debris from the filter. Clean the housing and air ducts as well. Take care not to allow dirt and debris to enter the air inlet to the engine. INSPECTION 1. Hold the air filter element up to a light source. Light should be visible through the element. There should be no holes or tears in the element. 2. The filter can also be cleaned using low pressure compressed air. 3. Replace the filter element if torn or light is not visible through the filter. INSTALLATION Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. v. FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT WARNING If diesel leakage is detected, do not start the vehicle or allow an open flame or spark near the vehicle. Have the fuel leak repaired immediately. The fuel system is under pressure. Relieve fuel system pressure before replacing the filter. DESCRIPTION The fuel filter is mounted on transaxle on the front side in the vehicle. A band clamp secures the fuel filter in place. Replace the fuel filter as per service schedule. When the vehicle is operated in adverse conditions or where fuel quality is questionable, more frequent replacement may be necessary. REMOVAL 1. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the power supply to the system fuel pump and cranking the engine. 2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable. 3. Disconnect both electrical connection to the fuel filter.
