REMOVAL AND REFITMENT OF FRONT 21. WHEEL SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL Position the vehicle on two post lift. 1. Disconnect electrical connector of wheel speed 2. sensor. Remove sensor mounting screw and remove 3. the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle. INSPECTION OF FRONT TONER RING Jack the vehicle and properly support front of 1. the vehicle. Steer the wheel to extreme steering locks 2. position so that the toner ring can be easily seen. Closely inspect the toner ring by slowly rotating 3. the wheel and remove the dust and mud/iron particles in between teeth. Check for any damaged teeth. (Front toner ring 4. has got 43 teeth). Replace toner ring if any teeth are missing or 5. damaged. INSTALLATION Clean speed sensor and its mounting surface. 1. Route the cable properly. 2. Install the wiring harness connector with wheel 3. speed sensor cable. Make sure that the sensor cable connector is 4. fully seated and locked into vehicle wiring harness connector. Insert the sensor into the sensor mounting hole 5. and tighten the bolt to the specified torque (0.8 – 1.0 Kg-M). Check the air gap between the face of the 6. wheel speed sensor and the top surface of the toner wheel. Clear all fault codes and road test the vehicle 7. to ensure proper operation of the brake system. WARNING Take proper precaution while disconnecting the wheel speed sensor from vehicle wiring harness, by not damaging pins of connector. NOTE Before replacing wheel speed sensor carry out diagnosis of wheel speed sensor. (Refer Troubleshooting and Diagnosis) NOTE Air gap should be 0.5 to 1.5m BRAKES 63
