HARRIER BSVI MCE - SERVICE MANUAL

BRAKES 23 13.REMOVAL OF SHOES Jack up the vehicle. Remove the wheels. Remove the brake drum as per the above procedure. Remove parking brake cable holding clip. Detach the hand brake cable from the lever on the trailing shoe by moving the lever towards the centre of the brake and removing the cable end from its location in the end of the lever. Using a suitable drift, take out the end of the shoe return spring from the hole in the w/cyl end of the trailing shoe. Reduce the adjuster assembly to its minimum length by lifting the end of the pawl lever and rotating the serrated adjuster nut. Taking care not to damage the rubber dust covers (2.1) on the wheel cylinder body (2), slide both shoes (3 & 4) off the wheel cylinder pistons. Manipulate the shoes to detach the adjuster assembly and shoe return spring (7).
