STEERING_MANDO 12 C. INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL 1. Loosen the universal joint bolt between steering column & intermediate shaft. 2. Remove the universal joint bolt between intermediate shaft and rack & pinion assembly. 3. Disengage the intermediate shaft from rack & pinion assembly and take out the intermediate shaft. REFITMENT: 1. Keep the front wheels in straight ahead position. 2. For assembly follow reverse procedure of removal. NOTE: Re-fitment of universal joint between intermediate shaft and rack & pinion assembly use new bolt for tightening. Wheel alignment is necessary after installation (Refer wheel alignment procedure). WARNING Do not reuse the universal joint bolts. D. ECU REMOVAL NOTE: Refer EPAS ECU replacement & software updation procedure in filed. Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) ECU replacement and software update procedure in field. 1. Disconnect battery. (Refer battery removal procedure/Body Electrical group). 2. Remove two screws and one nut of cover nacelle. 3. Remove lower panel covers attached to the dashboard. NOTE: For detailed illustration, please refer to the Body section of Gasoline Workshop Manual. 4. Disconnect the electrical connector’s from the ECU. 5. Remove the mounting bolts of ECU. Tightening torque -1.8 - 2.2 6. Take out the ECU. REFITMENT: 1. Conduct the “Calibration” and “ECU” variant “by TATA tool. 2. Erase the DTC if available.
