SUSPENSION 45 C. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF TORSION BEAM REMOVAL 1. Position the vehicle in the two post lift. 2. Remove the wheel cap and loosen wheel nuts. 3. Lift the vehicle using two post lift. 4. Remove the wheel. 5. Slacken off the hand brake cable. 6. Insert a screwdriver through the hole in drum and press against the hand brake lever. 7. A ‘click’ will be heard as the lever moves down. This movement compresses the pistons in the wheel cylinder and thereby increases the clearance between the brake shoes and the drum. 8. Remove the brake drum by unscrewing the stub axle Lock nut and gently tapping with the help of mallet. NOTE: The staked portion of the driveshaft nut to be carefully straightened so as to avoid damage to the driveshaft threads. Do not reused the old nut. 9. Detach the hand brake cable from the lever on the trailing shoe by moving the lever towards the center of the brake and removing the cable nipple from its location in the end of the lever. 10.Remove the hand brake cable holder split pin from the back plate.
