47 BODY 25. PROCEDURE FOR FIXING SIDE PLASTIC MOULD TRIMS ON DOORS, BONNET SIDE PANELS AND REAR SIDE PANELS (Fig. 30) l Clean the painted surface of the body and the grooves of side Plastic mould trims with Cleaner Terostat-8550. (Use Terostat-8550 by soaking in clean cloth) l Apply sealant Terostat-930 on the grooves of the mould. l Remove the red release film from the 3M (BIRLA) tape of the mould. l Hold the mould on the proper position of the painted body and press uniformly for 5 minutes of proper sticking of 3M tape & Terostat Sealant. Precautions : l Mould should be fixed to the body within 15 minutes of Terostat-930 application. l Red release film should be removed from3M tape just before fixing mould. l Do not disturb the pasted mould after fixing for sometime. 26. PROCEDURE FOR REFITMENT / REPLACEMENT OF SIDE PLASTIC MOULD TRIMS ON DOORS, BONNET SIDE PANELS AND REAR SIDE PANELS. The procedure to be followed remains the same as above except that when a trim comes out of its place, it leaves behind traces of dried 3M tape adhesive compound and sealant on the body shell and trim, which should be properly removed before refixing of side plasticmould trims for better adhesion. We give below the procedure for the same. l Remove the Trim. l Wet the remaining part of 3M tape on body with Toluene and wait for one minute. (Toluene to be used by soaking in white cloth.) l After one minute rub the soaked area of 3M tape with dry white cloth. l If required repeat the above procedure once or twice more. l Wait for five minutes. l Gently scrape off the remains of dried 3M tape on trim. l Further gently remove the remains of sealant Terostat-930 on body shell & trim. l Clean the grooves of moulded trim as well as painted surface of body with cleaner Terostat8550. l Fix the 3M tape to the plastic trim after removing the red film from one side of tape. l Apply sealant Terostat-930 on the Grooves of plastic moulded trims. l Remove release (red film) paper from of 3M tape. l Fix the component on the body within 10 minutes and press it uniformly for five minutes. l Do not disturb the component for sometime.
