16 486 PL ENGINE P HYDRAULIC TAPPETS 1. Elimination of the need to adjust valve clearance. Reduced cost for engine servicing. 2. Expensive engine damage is eliminated as incorrect valve clearance can no longer occur. 3. The hydraulic valve clearance compensator is integrated in bucket tappet which located between the cam and valve. Engine oil flows in to an oil chamber of the tappet and thus automatically compensates for the clearance which exists and ensures that the bucket tappet is always in position free of play at the cam shaft. It is then no longer necessary to adjust the valve clearance. 4. Hydraulic valve clearance compensators operate silently.
