3 EXHAUSTSYSTEM -2.2LDICOR Fig. 1 Fig. 1 A B CLOSECOUPLEDCATALYTICCONVERTER(ccc): The close coupled catalytic converter on safari is fitted with diesel oxidation catalytic converter to reduce exhaust pol lut ion(CO, Nox, unburnt hydrocarbon and particulate matter). This is fitted / closely coupled to the exhaust manifold (Fig. 1). Due to high exhaust temperature, it burns the soot and avoids catalytic converter chocking. The ccc will quickly heats up after starting to ensure that it operate correctly during the warm up phase of th engine. Removal l Remove the heat shield (A) l Disconnect the front exhaust pipe assly. l Remove the mount ing screws of ccc to turbocharger (B) l Take out the ccc Caution l Do not drop the ccc l Do not hit it against something Fitment l Assemble the ccc to turbocharger and tighten the mounting screws to the specified torque. l Fit the front exhaust pipe at other end of ccc. l Fit back the heat shield. l After installation start the engine & check for leakages. CAREANDMAINTENANCE In the event of following symptoms, drive the car at slow speedwithout rapid acceleration: l Engine misfires or runs irregularly, following a cold start. l A significant loss of power is noticed. l In case “CheckEngine” lamp remainsONeven after engine has been started. l If the vehicle is continuously run with misfiring, it may cause overheating of shell, carpet etc. resulting into fire.
