STEERING 18 7.2.2 REGULAR MAINTENANCE A. POWER STEERING OIL REPLACEMENT 1. Position the vehicle in the two post lift and lift the vehicle. 2. Remove the stone guard. 3. Loosen and remove the banjo bolt. Disconnect the high pressure line and allow the oil to drain. 4. Remove the clamp and disconnect the suction hose from the pump and allow the oil to drain from it as well. 5. Crank the engine for ten seconds without allowing the engine to start (if possible). Stop the engine immediately if the engine starts. 6. Now turn the steering wheel left and right to fulllock (each side) three to four times. ! CAUTION • The power steering oil will drain from both hoses as well as the pump; hence make necessary arrangements to collect the oil. • When the oil is completely drained plug the holes properly to avoid entry of contaminants and dirt particles into the pump. 7. Once the oil is drained refit the high pressure line and tighten the union bolt to the specified torque (1.5-2.5 Kg-m). 8. Fix the suction hose and fit the spring band clamp on it. 9. Lower the vehicle and bleed the system. (For Bleeding procedure refer Hydraulic system Air Bleeding.)
