WHEELS AND TYRES 57 WHEEL AND TYRES E. DO'S AND DON’TS  For each vehicle, tyre of a particular size, pattern and ply rating is recommended for usage. Fit only recommended tyres.  The rim and wheel used must also be of the recommended type and in a very good condition.  Care must be taken while mounting the tyre on the rim. Improper tools and careless handling will not only damage the tyre but could result in accidents causing serious injury.  Ensure that tyre has the right inflation as recommended by the manufacturer. Underinflation and over-inflation can seriously reduce the life of the tyre and may even cause accidents due to premature failures. The inflation pressure should be checked at least once in a week when the tyres are cold and have not run for long.  The maximum load imposed on a tyre should never exceed the maximum load carrying capacity of the tyre.  Tyres rotation should be carried out as recommended in the service schedule.  Driving on worn out tyres can be very dangerous and can lead to serious accidents.
