SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) 10 III. SIDE AIRBAG C-channel of 5mm thick and adequate for holding Side airbag can be used for mounting module on bench vice. IV. INFLATABLE CURTAIN AIRBAG Inflator of airbag module can be removed and held in bench vice. V. SEAT BELT (PRE-TENSIONER) Seat belt assembly can be directly held in bench vice. Seat belt webbing length could be cut prior to deployment. 1. Use a 2 core electrical wire at least 15m long, and connect to the pig-tail. 2. Place a vehicle battery or equivalent source at a distance of 15m from the restraints module assembly. The battery voltage shall be in the range of 8-16V. 3. Connect one core of the electrical wire to the positive (+ve) battery terminal. DO NOT CONNECT THE OTHER CORE WITH NEGATIVE (-ve) BATTERY TERMINAL. 1. Make sure that no person is present within 15m radius of the "to be disposed" module assembly. 2. Connect the other core of the electrical wire with the negative (-ve) battery terminal for deployment of module assembly. 3. After deployment, wait for at least 10 minutes to ensure that none of the components within the module assembly is too hot. 4. Take out the deployed module assembly from bench vice and conduct suitable activities towards scrapping of the constituent components. Airbag module assemblies are generally made up of aluminum, stainless steel or mild steel, nylon, plastic etc. After the module assembly is removed from bench vise, the constituent components could be scrapped as per the guidelines/laws for non-hazardous waste materials.
