SAFARI BSVI - SERVICE MANUAL

BRAKES (EPB) 29 6. Loosen and remove the mounting bolts of caliper assembly. 7. Remove the caliper assembly along with the carrier from the brake disc. NOTE If only the caliper housing has to be removed. After disconnection of hose and electrical connector remove the both pin bolts and remove the caliper housing from caliper. CAUTION To avoid accidental applicability, after vehicle off you may disconnect the battery in the engine compartment. FITMENT For fitment follow the reverse procedure of removal. E. REAR BRAKE CALIPER PAD REPLACEMENT FOR EPB CALIPER 1. Brake Disconnection From Vehicle  Launch the pad change sequence of the APB system by calling the “Enter maintenance mode” service via the ESP diagnostic tool.  Wait for the signal on the dashboard or on the diagnostic tool confirming that the brakes are ready for pad replacement (This operation might last several seconds.) CAUTION:  Accidental activation of the parking brake during the pad replacement could lead to injuries due to very high clamping forces.  Brake fluid entering inside the MGU connector socket might lead to damage of the MGU or parking brake malfunction. Ensure that:  The hydraulic connection of the brake caliper and the bleed screw of the brake caliper are tightened according to specification while the connector socket of the MGU is not connected and  The brake caliper is free of traces of brake fluid before disconnecting the wiring harness connector from the connector socket of the MGU. 2. Caliper the Opening (Refer caliper removal procedure.) CAUTION:  If the rotation round one pin is not possible due to vehicle configuration (hydraulic feed pipe, configuration of MGU) both pin screw/bolt-pin should be unscrewed and removed. If both pin screw/bolt-pin are unscrewed and removed, suspend the brake caliper during pad replacement to avoid stretching the brake hose.  The removal of the MGU is prohibited. 3. Caliper Housing Manipulation  Only use dedicated tools and interfaces to avoid any brake component degradation. CAUTION  The piston must not be rotated but simply pushed back inside the caliper as described in paragraph BIR caliper. Although the piston face shape is the same as a piston with BIR mechanism, it is not connected via a thread.
