CLUTCH_PETROL 12 10. Excessively Heavy Pedal A harsh whistling noise can be heard either on declutching or all the time. It varies according to the pressure applied to the pedal. The movement of the release bearing is hard when rotated by hand. The bearing has seized or was noisy from the start. Or the bearing has overheated, burning off the grease caused by incorrect pre-load. Systematically check the clutch cable, linkages; joints fork bearing, pre-load spring. 11. Permanent Loud Noise Permanent loud noise. The levers are badly damaged and the release bearing has seized. Incorrect clutch adjustment causing bearing failure. Regularly check the clutch adjustment. Always refer to manual for correct method of clutch adjustment. 12. Slipping and Juddering The clutch slips and eventually judders. The pressure plate burn marks. Driver resting foot on pedals. Incorrect clutch adjustment. Regularly check the clutch adjustment. Always refer to manual for correct method of clutch adjustment Educate the driver. 13. Juddering after changing the Clutch The clutch judders. Circular grooves can be seen on the friction material on the flywheel side. The clutch has been replaced when the flywheel has been previously scored. Systematically check the condition of the flywheel. Skim flywheel if necessary. 14. Pedal Stiff Stiff pedal with the risk of prolonged slipping after pulling away. The guide tube is corroded and worn. Clutch wear is abnormal taking into account the amount of mileage. The release bearing jams on the guide. If there are any signs of irregular wear replace guide tube. Avoid excessive lubrication which could contaminate the friction material.
