Insert the spider through the cage and then through the bevel pinions. Make sure that the slot in the spider is aligned with the slot in the cage. NOTE: Bevel gears and bevel pinions are interchangeable as a set only and not individually. Make sure that the Bevel gears and pinions are rotating. 7. Measure the backlash using a dial gauge; it should be within 0.0 ~ 0.1 mm. Backlash can be adjusted varying the bevel gear washers. 8. Insert the dowel sleeve, to lock the spider to the cage. 9.
