ENGINE 273 MPFI 261 ENGINE Inspection of TP Sensor • Check the TP sensor by multimeter for intermittent open circuit while the throttle lever is rotated. • Check the Resistance of the TP sensor. (Refer 3.11.5 Trouble Shooting and Diagnosis • Check for proper fitment of the throttle lever spring. PRECAUTION Do not remove spring or try to adjust tension. Do not adjust the throttle lever adjustment screw. • Using trox, remove the screw of the TP Sensor. PRECAUTION Removal operation to be done in a clean area. Remove the TPS from the throttle body. Refitment of TPS on throttle body • Check the condition of the O-ring of the TPS. PRECAUTION Ensure that the O-ring is not damaged and is placed in position. • Position the TPS into the throttle body. PRECAUTION Ensure that the alignment of the slot of the TPS is proper. • Using trox, fit the screw of the TP sensor. • Fit the accelerator cable connection to throttle body. • Fit the clamps to the throttle body assembly using screw driver. • Connect the TPS connector. • Reconnect battery negative terminal. • After replacing TPS or throttle body, it must be ensured that the accelerator cable zero setting / cable tension is adjusted properly. • After replacing TPS or throttle body on vehicle it is good practised to make the ignition on- off and press the accelerator pedal 5-7 time fully. Repeat the cycle for 1-2 times. This is because the ECU takes sometime to learn the throttle position from new throttle position sensor.
