Column Collapse Check Procedure CEPS Assembly – Collapse Identification REMARKS:  Vehicle CEPS steering assembly has 2 collapse points.  Collapse Point 01 : Capsule collapse point  Collapse Point 02 : lower tube collapse point, collapse mark identified for visual representation. Checking steering column for Accident Damage NOTE: Vehicles involved in accidents resulting in body damage, where steering column has been impacted or airbag deployed may have a damaged or misaligned steering column change whole column. Checking Procedure Take measurement “a” and “b” as shown. If it is shorter that specified length, replace steering column assembly with new one. a = 435 +/- 2 mm b = 60 mm min. Check steering shaft universal joint and shaft for any damages such as cracks, breakages, malfunction or excessive play. If anything is found faulty replace as Intermediate shaft assembly.
