1.5L REVOTORQ ENGINE 71 COMPONENTS A. Exhaust Manifold The exhaust manifold is mounted on the cylinder head. The exhaust gases are trapped out from the engine through the exhaust manifold. B. Turbocharger (VGT) CONSTRUCTION AND FUNCTION VGT limits exhaust gas inflow to less than its maxi- mum capacity to prevent overload in advance. Because this technology provides an engine with high durability and better economic efficiency, it stll remains a market leading product. The pressure of the exhaust gas dramatically increases at high speeds, and may cause damage to the turbo- charger. VGT by-passes overloaded exhaust gas using the waste gate to prevent this potential prob- lem A waste gate is a valve that diverts exhaust gases away from th e turbine wheel in a turbocharged engine system. ADVANTAGES / FEATURES  Good low end torque.  Good transient response.  Good fuel economy.  Increased useful engine operating range.  It provides more matching level of pressure boost even to a slow spinning turbine without providing too much of a boost at higher speed.  Low engine noise.  Lower emission. C. LNT+CDPF The LNT+CDPF is a critical element of the system used to reduce vehicle exhaust emissions. The catalytically active element within the converter lowers the activation energy needed to selectively transform harmful combustion products into less harmful gases. The catalyst becomes active when it reaches a threshold temperature. LNT+CDPF is physically positioned very close to the engine exhaust ports to enable quicker light-off. It also enables flushing out of the carbon particles present in the Catalytic Converter. Benefits • Positioned close to the engine exhaust ports for fast light-off and reduced cold start emissions. • Robust construction offers excellent durability. • Internally insulated construction design enables improved durability, reduced heat rejection and lower noise.
