SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) 6 11.Prior to commencing any test procedure on the vehicle, ensure that only test equipment approved for the purpose is being utilized and that it is in good working order. Ensure any harness or connectors are in good condition and any warning lamps are fully functional. 12.Do not keep a live airbag module with the deployment side faced down. Place the Airbag modules such that the deployment side should be placed facing upwards and away from any loose parts. 13.Only use the diagnostic tool to probe faults in the Airbag system, never use electrical probing instruments like Multimeter as the probing current may deploy the airbag. 14.Never attach anything to the airbag cover or allow anything to rest on top of the airbag module. 15.Always store airbag module in a dry, cool and secured area. 16.Never attempt to modify any splice or repair SRS wiring harness. 17.Always ensure that the airbag wiring is routed correctly. Be careful to avoid trapping or pinching the airbag wiring. Look for possible points of chafing. 18.Ensure all airbag harness connectors are mated correctly and securely fastened. Do not leave the connectors hanging loose or allow SRS components to hang from their harnesses. 19.Grease should not be applied to the steering wheel pad and the pad should not be cleaned with detergents of any kind. 20.When using electric welding, first disconnect all the airbag connectors, ECU and sensors. If such activities are to be conducted near SRS component, then remove those components also.
