ELECTRICAL 132 F. BCM REPLACEMENT STRATEGY: 1. Disconnect the battery. 2. Locate the BCM ECU. Refer for location of the BCM. 3. Remove all the BCM ECU connectors. (Refer image in case Base BCM / Mid BCM) 4. Remove the old BCM ECU from bracket. 5. Fix the new BCM ECU on bracket. 6. Connect all the BCM ECU connectors into their respective sockets. (Refer image in case Base BCM /Mid BCM) 7. Ensure that all connectors are fitted tightly and properly. 8. Connect the battery. 9. Connect the diagnostic tool to OBD connector. 10.Turn the IGN ON. 11.Read the DTCs and clear all the DTCs from BCM ECU with the help of diagnostic tool. 12.Unlock security to BCM ECU. Please follow the procedure available in service tool to unlock the security access. Caution – This is an essential step without unlocking the security access further steps will not be executed. 13.Perform the following diagnostics activities a. Read HW, SW part numbers and it’s version numbers of BCM ECU and compare against server i. Vehicle Manufacturer Spare Part Number (F187) ii. ECU Application Software Number (7241) iii. Application Software Identification (F181) iv. ECU Calibration Software Number (7242) b. If upgrade required or mismatch with part numbers, then flash the BCM ECU with latest software. Afterwards follow the above step again. 14.Learn the RKE (remote key) as per below mentioned procedure a. Unlock the vehicle and open the driver door. b. BCM shall flash Left - Right indicator lamp and Telltale twice. In parallel, doors get locked and unlocked. c. RKE Paring done with help of diagnostics tools. d. Press Lock & Unlock buttons of 1st Key together for 5sec. Note: Maximum four keys can be learned. 15.Update BCM ECU VIN with following procedure a. Turn the IGN ON again and Unlock security to BCM ECU with the help of diagnostic tool. b. Read VIN from BCM ECU (22 F1 90) c. Write correct VIN in BCM ECU (2E F1 90 XX XX . . . . . ) d. Read VIN from BCM ECU (22 F1 90) and verify. 16.Configure the BCM ECU (parameterization of BCM ECU) with following steps a. Turn the IGN ON again and Unlock security to BCM ECU. b. Perform the parameterization as per vehicle variant with the help of diagnostic tool. c. Power Latch - Ignition->OFF->ON transition. (Make sure is key is taken out). d. Read and confirm configuration data from BCM against server. 17.Read the DTCs and clear all the DTCs from BCM ECU with the help of diagnostic tool. 18.Provide IGN off-on cycle. 19.Read the DTCs from BCM ECU with the help of diagnostic tool. If any DTC is present follow the respective troubleshooting procedure to rectify it. 20.Execute Service Test Routine for BCM ECU a. Execute BCM EOL Self-test routine (31 01 20 01) b. Read the DTCs from BCM ECU with the help of diagnostic tool. If any DTC is present follow the respective troubleshooting procedure to it. c. Execute Input switch test routine (31 01 34 09 06) d. Read Input switch test routine results with the help of diagnostic tool. If any DTC is present follow the respective DTC troubleshooting procedure to rectify it. MAJOR PRECAUTIONS FOR REPLACEMENT 1. While replacing the BCMs, it is suggested not to touch the BCM pins with hand. 2. While tightening the screws, tightening torque must not exceed 3. BCM upper and lower covers shall not be removed while verifying/replacing the BCM. 4. All of the service tool instructions for BCM replacement shall be followed. 5. Base and Mid BCMs shall be replaced ONE TO ONE in place of the faulty parts.
