HVAC (ETC) 17 11. CONDENSER The condenser is a heat exchanger used to cool the hot vapourised refrigerant. Also the refrigerant changes its state from vapour to liquid. The conden- ser in this vehicle, as in many other vehicles is placed in front of the radiator. Common condenser and heater cooling fan is provided to force the air into condenser to cool the refrigerant inside the core. 12. RECEIVER DRIER (R.D) It’s a storage device for liquid refrigerant and has three main functions. i) It absorbs the moisture in the refrigerant. ii) It allows only liquid ( high pressure liquid) to pass through to the TXV. iii) It keeps a reserve of refrigerant to accommodate fluctuating refrigerant requirements. 13. TRINARY PRESSURE SENSOR Trinary pressure switch is provided on the high pres- sure tube liquid line of the refrigerant and it is functionally connected to engine EMS to control the AC compressor and radiator/ condenser fan through the Engine EMS. It also gives a feedback to the Con- trol panel in case of its intervention. The operating pressure ranges for the Trinary pres- sure switch is as: Pressure OFF ON DIFF Low 0.196±0.02 0.226 +0.025 More than 0.02 Medium 1.47±0.15 1.96±0.12 High 3.14±0.2 (2.55) 0.59±0.2 LOCATION The pressure switch is located on the high pressure refrigerant liquid tube.
