P0171-92: System Too Lean – Performance or Incorrect Operation Overview: ISO Code P0171-92 Customer Symptom Acceleration and Overall vehicle performance will be affected Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1. Too lean fuel can heat up the engine as well as exhaust components. 2. Acceleration and overall vehicle performance will be affected. 3. Lambda short and long term adaptations will be disabled. Lamp Status (If Any) MIL ON after 3 drive cycles Fault Detection Condition This fault gets logged if the Air content in the Air fuel mixture is higher than required or fuel content is lower than required. Normal Operating Condition Air Fuel Mixture will be appropriate to the Torque and Emissions requirement. Probable Trouble Area Fuel Line, Fuel Regulator, Injectors, Air Intake Circuit, throttle valve Healing Condition Vehicle running and after 3 drive cycles Fault permanent deletion 1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool 2. Stack Over Flow. 3. 40 warm up cycles. 4. ECU Flashing. 5. ECU Power-Fail Component Details: NA Preliminary Checks: 1. Blocked Fuel Line 2. Bad Fuel Regulator 3. Blocked/Leaking Injectors 4. Intake Air Circuit Leakage. 5. Injector delay time not correct 6. Throttle valve stuck Open 7. Fuel pump relay stuck closed
