B1639 – 06 : Module ECM/PCM & BCM handshake failed – Algorithm Based Failures Overview: ISO Code (DTC Code) B1639 - 06 Customer Symptom IMMO telltale will continuously ON. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1. Engine will not start. Lamp Status (If Any) Functional telltale used for fault indication. Fault Detection Condition BCM Authentication with EMS ECU is failed (handshake) / Bad communication. Normal Operating Condition BCM started the authentication to EMS with proper handshake then BCM should receive correct response. Probable Trouble Area 1. BCM connector Fault. 2. Harness wires shorted. 3. BCM ECU fault. 4. BCM/ ECM Memory failure or BCM & ECM are not paired with each other. Healing Condition 1. Ignition OFF  ON. 2. Clear DTC Command. Component Details: BCM connector. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V) 2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
