START Connect Diagnostic tool and Run Input Test Routine and operate the switches as mentioned in the input switch test routine specification. Is DTC B162C – 12 logged by Routine? Disconnect vehicle battery connection. (Please follow the safety guidelines) Check BCM and Tailgate switch connectors for terminal backout Are connectors loose? 1.Remove BCM Connector. 2.Perform visual check of connectors for pins bent or damaged. Is connector faulty? Check continuity between BCMconnector pin [C 4-15 ] Harness side) with battery [C3-2/C3-1] Continuity Found? 1. Remove Tailgate switch 2. Check continuity between BCMharness side connector pin [C4- 15] and Tailgate switch [C416-1] STOP YES NO YES NO Reconnect connectors firmly Correct connector fault (Terminals Bend) YES NO Correct BCM Sidewiring harness (Short to Battery) NO YES B162C - 12: Tailgate State Switch - Circuit short to Battery Open Circuit? Perform the visual check of connectors for pin bend or damaged Is connector faulty? Check continuity at Tailgate switch [C416-1] with ground [C1-34/C1-47] Continuity found? BCM ECU Faulty Correct wiring harness (Open Circuit) YES NO Correct connector fault (Terminal Bend) Correct connector fault at Tailgate switch mating connector (Open Circuit) YES NO YES NO Replace BCM ECU Continuity found? YES NO 1. Switch is faulty 2. Replace Tailgate switch Check continuity between two terminals of Tailgate switch
