P3012-2A: NPL Error when Sports Switch is Pressed for too Long Period – Signal Stuck in Range Overview: ISO Code P3012-2A Customer Symptom Sport Mode will not Function. Vehicle will run in default Normal mode. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Sport Mode will not Function. Vehicle will run in default Normal mode. Lamp Status (If Any) None Fault Detection Condition This fault gets logged either when the sports mode switch is stuck closed or EMS ecu sports mode switch control pin is short to GND. Normal Operating Condition Sports Mode switch functions as per the design intention. Probable Trouble Area Wiring Harness Connections, Sports Mode switch, EMS ecu Healing Condition After 3 drive cycles of fault rectification Component Details: Sports mode switch is a Normally Open non latchable Switch. Whose electrical contacts will be closed when the Switch is pressed manually. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check whether the sports mode switch is stuck in pressed condition. 2. Check for any damage of pins at EMS ecu connector / Sports mode switch connector. 3. Check whether the EMS ecu connector / Sports mode switch connector is damaged. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check whether the sports mode switch is stuck in pressed condition. Rectify/Replace the switch Go to step 2 2 Check whether the sports mode switch is sticky. Clean or replace the switch Go to step 3 3 Check the continuity between the EMS ecu pin 117 and Sports mode witch connector pin1. Also check the continuity between the sports mode switch connector oin 2 and Ground. Is Continuity proper? Go to step 4 Establish continuity as per the Circuit schematic. 4. Check whether the EMS ecu pin 117 is short Circuited to Ground. Rectify the wiring harness connections as per the schematic Go to step 5 5. Fault still persists? Replace sports mode switch. IF fault still persists then replace EMS ecu Confirm the above procedure for fault Rectifacation.
