U0131-31: Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module-Signal low time <Minimum Overview: ISO Code U0131-31 Customer Symptom 1.Message monitoring failure between EMS ECU and EPAS ECU. 2.EPAS function gets disabled. 3.ESS Autostop/Autostart function will get affect. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1.Message monitoring failure between EMS ECU and EPAS ECU. 2.EPAS function gets disabled. 3.ESS Autostop/Autostart function will get affect. Lamp Status (If Any) NO Fault Detection Condition EPAS ECU is not communicating on CAN EPAS ECU is not powered. Normal Operating Condition ESS will work with the help of steering angle assist information available on CAN from EPAS ECU. Probable Trouble Area LIN connection with EMS ECU is disconnected. Healing Condition After 1 Drive cycles and ignition ON Fault permanent deletion 1. Scan tool Service 14 2. Stack Over Flow. 3. 40 warm up cycles. 4. ECU flashing 5. ECU power fail Component Details: NA Preliminary Checks: 1. Communication with EMS ECU with TDS scan tool. Read the DTC. 2. Please confirm the DTC is in confirmed/ memorized state. 3. Please check if EPAS ECU is scanned with TDS tool. Trouble Shooting: - DTC’s Healing Confirmation: - After rectification, ensure the following points by referring engine parameters using TML diagnostic tool before handing over to customer. Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check EPAS ECU is able to communicate with TDS scan tool. . Go to Step 2 Establish continuity by rectifying harness connections as per the circuit schematic 2 Check the EPAS ECU is connector is properly connected to the ECU. Rectify/Replace Connectors Go to Step 3 3 Check the EPAS ECU for pin bend and pin back out issue. Rectify/Replace Connectors Go to Step 4 4 Make the correction for above checks & Clear the DTCs. Go to Step 5 5 Fault Still Persists? Replace EPAS and then if Fault still persists then Replace EMS ECU Follow the steps again for reconfirmation
