P3311-1: Alternator LIN communication error flag-General electric failure Overview: ISO Code P3311-1 Customer Symptom 1.IAC (Intelligent Alternator Control) will not work. 2.ESS Autostop/Autostart function will malfunction. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1.IAC (Intelligent Alternator Control) will not work. 2.ESS Autostop/Autostart function may will malfunction. Lamp Status (If Any) Nil Fault Detection Condition Checksum is not properly received to EMS ECU from IAC Normal Operating Condition Alternator Control functioning properly Probable Trouble Area Alternator, wiring harness Healing Condition After 3 driving cycle and Ignition ON. Fault permanent deletion 1. Scan tool Service 14 2. Stack Over Flow. 3. 40 warm up cycles. 4. ECU flashing 5. ECU power fail Component Details: The Alternator control integrated circuit is a monolithic multifunction communicated regulator specifically designed for closed loop voltage control for Valeo 12V automotive 3 phase alternators with a rotating field winding. The ECU will be able to communicate with the IAC via LIN interface. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check the IAC is properly connected on the alternator 2. Check the DTC is in confirmed or memorized state. Trouble Shooting: - 1. Check the LIN continuity from EMS ECU LIN to Alternator LIN connections. 2. Check if, no short circuit to battery or ground is observed in LIN connection. If yes, then do the necessary repair. 3. Clear the DTC. 4. If error/ IAC LIN Checksum DTC still persists, then replace IAC. 5. Clear the DTC. DTC’s Healing Confirmation: - After rectification, ensure the following points by referring engine parameters using TML diagnostic tool before handing over to customer.
