P1E04-13: Engine Start Stop Indication – Circuit open Overview: ISO Code P1E04-13 Customer Symptom 1.ESS Autostop/Autostart function may get affect. 2.ESS Switch Led will not work Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1.ESS Autostop/Autostart function may get affect. 2.ESS Switch Led will not work Lamp Status (If Any) CE Lamp ON after 1 drive cycle Fault Detection Condition Auto Start Stop switch lamp indication pin 130 of EMS ECU is open circuited Normal Operating Condition Wiring Harness connections as per circuit schematic between EMS ECU and Auto Start Stop Probable Trouble Area Improper wiring harness connections. Auto Start Stop LED indication is open circuited Healing Condition After 1 Drive cycles and ignition ON Fault permanent deletion 1. Scan tool Service 14 2. Stack Over Flow. 3. 40 warm up cycles. 4. ECU flashing 5. ECU power fail Component Details: It is a non latch able switch. Its operating temperature is -40 to 85 deg C and operating voltage is 9 to 16V. its lifecycle is 1,00,000 cycles. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections or Intermittent fault. 2) Sensor supply line Short circuit to Battery. 3) Sensor Signal line Short circuit to Battery/ Sensor Supply/ Ground. 4) Check the continuity from sensor connector pins to the ECU pins. 5)Check for back out of pins at both Sensor connector and ECU connector. 6) Check for damage of pins at both sensor connector and ECU connector. 7) Faulty ESS LED. 8) Faulty ECU Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Is there wiring harness electrical continuity between ECU pin 130 & Auto Start Stop LED Lamp indicator Go to Step 2 Establish continuity by rectifying harness connections as per the circuit schematic 2. Sensor supply line Short circuit to Battery. Repair the harness as per the schematic Go to Step 3 3. Sensor Signal line Short circuit to Battery/ Sensor Supply/ Ground. Repair the harness as per the schematic Go to Step 4 4. Are there any pins damaged at EMS ECU Connector Replace the connector or wiring harness Go to step 5 5. Are there any pins backed out from the EMS ECU Connector Rectify/Replace Connectors Go to Step 6 6. Is Auto Start Stop lamp indication Pin 130 open circuited Repair the harness as per the schematic Go to Step 7 7. Fault Still Persists? Replace switch and then if Fault still persists then Replace EMS ECU Follow the steps again for reconfirmation
