P3017-04: Authentication between ECU and ICU fails & Invalid key detected– System Internal Failures Overview: ISO Code P3017-04 Customer Symptom Vehicle will not start Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Fuel Supply for Ignition and Starter Command will be cut off by EMS ecu Lamp Status (If Any) Immo Lamp ON Fault Detection Condition This fault gets logged when the AES key / VIN written into the EMS ecu and Immo mismatches. Normal Operating Condition Same VIN will be written into EMS ecu and Immobilizer Probable Trouble Area EMS ecu / Immobilizer Healing Condition After 1 drive cycle of fault rectification Fault Permanent deletion Stack Over flow After 40 drive cycles Diagnostic command to clear DTC’s Component Details: Immobilizer system is designed to prevent vehicle theft by electronically disabling the engine starting system. The engine can be started only with vehicle’s original immobilizer ignition key, which has an electronic identification programmed code. Immobilizer unit (VICM) is an add-on part on the ignition switch, fitted on the steering column. The engine can be started only with the vehicle’s original immobilizer ignition key. The electronic key communicates the identification code to immobilizer (VICM) when the key is turned to the "Ignition ON" position. Immobilizer comes with two Electronic keys (E-key) Preliminary Checks: 1. Check whether same VIN number is written into both EMS and ICU. 2. Read the AES key from Immobilizer and EMS ecu, check whether both the values are matching or not.
