DIAGNOSIS SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL BRAKE ROUGH OR CHATTERON APPLICATION SR.NO CAUSES REMEDY 1 Excessive lateral run out in disc or parallelism Repair if possible or replace the disc not within specification 2 Rear drum out of round Check run out, repair or replace drum as necessary 3 Broken anti-rattle clip Replace 4 Incorrect parking brake adjustment Check and adjust as per specifications 5 Seized caliper pistons Overhaul calipers 6 Damaged or loose wheel bearing Replace wheel bearing 7 Distorted steering knuckle or rear wheel spindle Replace knuckle or rear wheel spindle EXCESSIVE BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT (HARD PEDAL) SR.NO . CAUSES REMEDY 1 Lining soiled with brake fluid, oil or grease Replace 2 Brake pad worn below Recommended thickness. Replace 3 Mal-functioning of Servo Identify the trouble in Servo and rectify 4 Partial system failure Check both primary and secondary circuits (in tandem master cylinder) and rectify 5 Piston in calipers stuck or sluggish Remove caliper and overhaul 6 Fading brake due to non recommended grade of brake pads pads Replace with approved grade of brake 7 Kinked, dented or clogged bundy pipes hoses Identify and Replace 8 Binding pedal linkage Lubricate and free up the system 9 Vacuum leakage through hose replace vacuum hose Check the hose connections if required SR.NO . CAUSES REMEDY 1 Air in hydraulic system Bleed the system and top up 2 Soft or weak hose Check and Replace 3 Poor quality brake fluid Flush the system and refill with recommended grade of brake fluid 4 Excessive worn / Weak drums in Rear Replace rear brake drums
