SRS 14 10.6.2 Clock spring Before clock spring removal; please make note of following information: 1. Clock spring is used for making electrical connections between vehicle level wiring harness (stationary part) and Driver air bag, steering wheel switches (rotating parts mounted on steering wheel) 2. Inside the clock spring there is a flexible PCB (printed circuit board) which winds and unwinds as we rotate the steering wheel. 3. Steering wheel rotates 1.75 turns on either side i.e. 3.5 turns lock to lock. Clock spring can rotate 2 turns on one side and 3 turns on other side i.e. during normal working clock spring has at least 0.25 turns on one side additional for safety of clock spring. 4. While removing the suspected or defective clock spring from vehicle we need to ensure that wheels are in straight ahead condition. This can be achieved by rotating steering wheel 1.75 turns from one lock position. It also should be ensured visually that front wheels are in straight ahead condition.
