SUSPENSION 4 6.3 DIAGNOSIS FRONT SUSPENSION & REAR SUSPENSION Always road test the vehicle first before coming to any conclusion, Do some preliminary visual inspection and correct any defects if found. 1. Inspect the tyre pressures and tyre wear. 2. Lift the vehicle using two post lift and inspect front and rear suspension for loose or damaged parts. 3. Rotate the wheels and check for out-of round tyres, bent rims, loose or rough wheel bearings. 4. Detailed inspection of parts / sub assembly of rear suspension is given in Inspection Section. CONDITION PROBABLE DEFECT CORRECTIVE ACTION Directional Instability and Vehicle Pulling 1. Mismatched / uneven tyres wear. 2. Cracked / broken or sagging springs. 3. Improper tyre inflation 4. Misaligned front wheel geometry/rear wheel geometry 5. Loose, bent or broken suspension parts 1. Replace tyre 2. Replace spring 3. Adjust tyre pressure 4. Check and adjust front wheel alignment / rear wheel geometry 5. Tighter or replace suspension Parts Unusual Excessive Tyre Wear 1. Sagged springs or set springs 2. Tyres imbalanced 3. Faulty strut 4. Misaligned front and rear wheel geometry 5. Vehicle over loaded 6. Loose or worn out wheel bearing 7. Tyre inflation not proper 1. Replace spring 2. Balance or replace tyres 3. Replace Strut 4.
