DRIVETRAIN C549 32 D. LAY SHAFT - DISMANTLING 1. Remove the rear bearing (1a), 4th speed driven gear (1b) and the spacer between 3rd and 4 th speeds (1c) using the tools (1d) 287458902606(Extractor) and (1e) 2874 58902607 (Clamps). 2. Remove the 3rd speed driven gear (1a) and the 2nd speed driven gear (1b) using the tools 1c) 287458902606 (Extractor) and (1d 287458902608 (Clamps). 3. Remove the 2nd speed double cone synchronizer assembly (1). 4. Remove the needle bearing (2) for the 2nd speed drive gear. 5. Remove the 1st-2nd and reverse engagement sliding sleeve (3). 6. Remove the pre-synchronizer mountings (4). 7. Remove the circlip (1) retaining the Reverse Sliding sleeve hub using suitable pliers. NOTE: When refitting, replace the circlip.
