SAFARI BSVI - SERVICE MANUAL

ELECTRICAL 175 C. FAIL SAFE MODES OF RLS & BCM: AUTO LIGHT: During below failure conditions the BCM will operate the low beam & parking lights:  On detecting the any rain light sensor error state fault BCM shall log the DTC. LIMP HOME: However, If Lights were made ON by BCM and there is any sensor error or LIN communication error, BCM should continue the LOW beam and park lamps as long as IGN is ON && AUTO is ON. If AUTO==OFF during LIMP HOME then low beam and park lamps shall be turned OFF  Wiring harness failure (open circuit or short to battery or short to ground) between RLS to BCM. (Addition with low beam & parking lights user can operate manual High beam through combination switch). AUTO WIPE: Under the “Auto” position condition. If the ECU detects an error on the rain sensor, the system works as following: Judge level at the fail timing Operation Wiper Speed = 0 (no wiping) Keep no wiping Wiper Speed = 0 and last wipe or “IG” OFF was less than 7 sec. before failure event. Continuous interval operation according sensitivity switch position Wiper Speed = 1 (Speed 1) Keep Speed 1 operation Wiper Speed = 2 (Speed 1) Keep Speed 2 operation Washer function Keep working as per specification  After detection sensor error, if switch position changes the “Auto” _ “Another” _ “Auto” then operate continues interval as following.  After detection sensor error, if IG is OFF once, after then operate continues interval as following during IG = ON and “Auto” position.  In case of an Error mode for less than 7 sec. after “IGN” on the ECU should operate continues interval.  <Continues interval operation> Sensitivity switch position 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 & Pause time t1, t2, t3, t4 & t5. BCM shall monitor the error state for more than a counter value after then goes in to failsafe mode. During the error detection state BCM shall use the auto wipe and auto light previous value for the light and wiper operation. Once BCM detect the No error for a particular counter value then work as per specifications. In between BCM shall take the previous LIN communication values for rain and light function. WASHER MOTOR CONTROL:  If the wash switch input is coming continuously for more than 15sec to BCM then BCM shall de-activate the washer motor. This is to protect the washer motor. Also deactivate the LIN washer bit to RLS which indicate the washer switch status.  After 15Sec BCM shall ignore the wash input & provide the wipes as per parameter 3 and wait for time specified as per parameter 5sec and provide one more drip wipe, if there is no request from RLS to activate the wiper after last wash wipe. WASH FUNCTION CONFLICT WITH AUTO WIPE  When Wiper is in Auto mode and simultaneously wash switch is pressed then Wash function should over ride the Auto wiper function.  A faulty Rain Light Sensor will not effect the wash function.  Removal of the Rain Light Sensor or loosen connection with it, does not effect the functionality of wash function.  Front wiper low & high speed is directly controlled by the combination switch. COMPLUSARY WIPE FUNCTION:  In AUTO wipe mode when the rain light sensor sensitivity changes from any position to a more sensitive level example P4 – P3 or P3 – P2 etc then BCM shall provide the single wipe provided no wiping speed is set by RLS sensor.  If wipers are already wiping in AUTO/manual mode then single wipe shall not take place even if wiper sensitivity change is detected by BCM.  If wiper is not in-parking position and user change the sensitivity then no single wipe shall take place.
