101 ENGINE2.2LDICOR boost steady or reduce it as needed. By reading the manifold pressure sensor, the ECU can adjust turbine inlet pressure (Geometry of Vanes) instantaneously to control boost at any speed/ load and to limit boost at full load. Advantages / Features l Good low end torque l Good transient response l Good fuel economy l Increased useful engine operating range. l It provides more matching level of pressure boost even to a slow spinning turbine without providing too much of a boost at higher speed. l VNT is electronically controlled and pneumatically actuated. l When the vanes of the TC are closed, the engine will have a higher exhaust back pressure and create more heat which will in turn warm the engine faster in cold ambient conditions. l Low engine noise l Lower emission Inter Cooler (Fig. 213) The intercooler further increases the power of the engine by cooling the pressurized air coming out of the compressor before it goes into the engine. This means that if the turbocharger is operating at a boost of 7 psi, the intercooler system will put in 7 psi of cooler air, which is denser and contains more air molecules than warmer air. Fig. 213 Boost sensor Instructions duringReception and Inspection l Ensure that there are no damages to packaging, i f the packaging is damaged, check the appearance of turbochargers and the parts or components making up the turbocharger. Amore in-depth inspection is recommended for the most sensitive components such as actuator and comp housing. l Containers must be unloaded in conditions that do not expose the system to bad weather (do not unload and store even momentarily in rain,..). Otherwise, oxidation / corrosion may well occur very rapidly) l If a packaging tray is dropped with turbochargers in it during logistics operations, the batch of
