39 FRONT AXLE - 4 X 4 DISASSEMBLY PLUNGING DOUBLE OFFSET CV JOINT Mark the position of boot for reassembly. Cut and discard boot clamp. Cut and discard boot. Inspect Grease for any contamination. Note : Presence of any contamination warrants CV joints replacement. Wipe away excess grease to access retainer ring in outer race. Remove retainer ring, using a screw driver. Fig. 75 Remove Outer Race. Using, tang snap ring plier, Pt. no. 2704 5890 3331 expand and slide back the inside circlip. Fig. 76 Remove outer circlip use plain plier Pt. no. 2704 5890 3330. Fig. 77 Remove inner race assembly from shaft. If required, use a soft mallet. By slight tapping, remove the balls from the inner race. Pivot inner race and remove from cage.
