14 TRANSFER CASE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT Fig. 2. 4WD PART TIME ECU Description Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is located under the co-drivers seat. Driver operates a switch to shift the vehicle from two wheel drive to four wheel drive (and vice versa) Shifting is possible during driving. (only in 2H to 4H mode). Interconnections between ECU and system blocks are as shown in Fig. 2 Operating Transfer Case : Shifting from 2WD to 4WD * Position the selector switch from 2H to 4H, 4WD HI indicator light will turn on. * Shifting is possible during driving. Shifting from 4WD to 2WD * Position the selector switch from 4H to 2H, 4WD HI indicator light will turn off. * Shifting is possible during driving. Shifting from 4H to 4L * Stop the vehicle. * Press clutch pedal. * Position the selector switch from 4H to 4L, 4WD LO indicator light will turn on. Shifting from to 4L to 4H * Stop the vehicle. * Press clutch pedal. * Position the selector switch from 4L to 4H, 4WD HI indicator light will turn on. Fig. 2.
