ENGINE 68 Fig 1 Fig 2 Fig 3 Removal of Fuel Filter 1. Clean the filter and surrounding area with solvent (CARECLEAN type) applied using a clean brush. 2. Disconnect the fuel pump to filter return line from the filter and plug the pipe with the appropriate plug. (Fig: -1.) 3. Disconnect the fuel filter to pump supply pipe from the filter and fit the appropriate protection plug from the service kit to the end of the pipe. (Fig: - 2.) 4. Disconnect the sedimenter to filter supply pipe from the filter and plug the pipe with the appropriate plug. (Fig: - 3.) 5. Remove and discard the filter. Installation of Fuel Filter 1. Place the new filter in the retaining bracket, ensuring it is pushed fully home. then rotate then filter until the alignment mark on the top of the filter is closest to the inner wing panel. 2. Ensure that the connections of the new filter are clean before removing the protection plugs from the filter and pipe. 3. Reconnect the Sedimenter to the filter supply pipe. Service Water drain operation to be done on both filter and sedimenter 1. Each time when water is detected by sedimenter water sensor. 2. Each vehicle service. NOTE Fitting of Fuel filter : It is important to specify that it must be fitted correctly (i.e. vertical with no angle) to avoid possible damage due to it vibrating against metallic attachments that could cause leaks. Check of pressure drop to low value is done with Diagnostic tool.
